Borderway Finance are delighted to welcome two new starters to the team as well as celebrating a successful promotion.

Sophie Thornton joined the Borderway team in January 2022 as a Sales Support Administrator. She quickly became an integral part of the team, providing help and support to our customers throughout their journey with us. When the opportunity arose in June this year to progress into the Direct and Corporate Account Manager position, Sophie jumped at the opportunity.

She said "After initially joining on a part time basis, I soon found I enjoyed working at Borderway more than anywhere I had worked before. Although the team work incredibly hard, the office is always full of laughter. I love getting to know people, their stories and helping them with their applications. The moment you tell someone they have been accepted to be able to buy their dream car lights up your day. So, when the full-time role of Direct and Corporate Account Manager became available I jumped at the chance."

Sophie brings many years of experience of customer service with her into her new role, having spent over 10 years in the hospitality and holiday sector. In her role, Sophie will be spending time dealing directly with customers, helping them to arrange funding for their vehicle purchase. She’ll also be getting out and about to local networking events as well as visiting businesses, working alongside them to assist with their vehicle finance needs.

Following Sophie’s promotion, Charlee Gibson has been appointed as Borderway’s new Sales Support Administrator. Having spent many years in the hospitality and leisure sector, she brings a wealth of experience in delivering exceptional customer service, joining the team at an exciting time for the business.

Charlee will be working closely with our motor dealers and directly with our customers. She will be assisting customers throughout their journey with us, ensuring everyone receives the award winning level of service Borderway have become known for. When asked about why she wanted to join the team, Charlee said “I wanted to work with a close nit team and I have the drive to help people.”

Finally, Leah Farish has joined the Borderway team as our new Administration Assistant. Working alongside our existing administration team, Leah will be responsible for ensuring proposals for customers are carefully prepared before being submitted to our underwriters for a decision.

She’ll also be making sure that everything is processed smoothly when completed legal agreements are received from our customers, before any funds are passed to motor dealers. This ensures that our customers are able to proceed with their purchases. She said “I’ve really enjoyed my first few months with Borderway, the team are amazing and have made me feel so welcome. It’s been exciting to learn a new industry and every day is so different it keeps you on your toes.”

Mike Deans, Borderway’s Managing Director, said of the new starters. “It’s been wonderful welcoming Charlee and Leah into the Borderway family. They’re a great fit for our team, having been warmly welcomed by everyone across the business and customers too. Our team continues to grow and I’m proud to welcome colleagues on board that work hard to deliver the best they can to our customers.

"I’m delighted that, since joining the team, Sophie has been able to progress her career with us. It’s important to be able to develop our colleagues and provide opportunity to advance.”
